Thank you for joining the San Antonio Botanical Garden and supporting the mission of inspiring people to connect with the plant world and understand the importance of plants in our lives.  As a (501c3) nonprofit organization, the Botanical Garden relies strongly on member support to successfully fulfill its mission. In a continual effort to provide an excellent member experience, the information below answers some of the most commonly asked questions about the Botanical Garden’s membership program.

Yes. The Botanical Garden’s Guest Experience team can apply the purchase price of an admission ticket toward one membership purchase. The value applied from an admission ticket purchase can be no higher than the price of the membership. To receive this credit, please visit the admission kiosk before you leave the Botanical Garden.

Monthly membership subscriptions are a new option available for all general level memberships. This requires payment by credit card, a minimum of 12-month commitment, and opt-in to auto-renewal. Monthly membership subscriptions can be cancelled ONLY AFTER COMPLETION of your 12-month commitment. To cancel your monthly membership subscription, please contact the membership office by calling 210.536.1407.

Your digital card(s) can be instantly obtained by downloading the free eMembership app from the Google Play or Apple store. From here, simply search using your phone number or membership ID associated with membership account and your last name. You can choose to download your digital card directly to your personal Google and Apple Pay wallet or continue to access your digital card via the app.

Memberships purchased the same day [online] are updated in our system immediately; you do not need to bring your printed e-mail confirmation. If you did not upload the digital membership card, or opted out of receiving a digital membership card, our staff can easily look you up using a valid photo ID. Please allow up to 4 hours to download your digital card.

We strive to mail out all hard copy membership cards within 2-3 weeks of purchase. While you are waiting to receive your cards, you can present a valid photo ID at the admission kiosk for entry to the Botanical Garden. If you have not received your membership card, please contact the Membership Coordinator vis email at [email protected] or by phone at 210.536.1407.

Up to two designated adult members will each receive a membership card. These cards will name all adult members of the household and indicate the membership level. By downloading your digital cards, each member of membership can download their own card to their smartphone.

Yes! Your digital card bears the RAP (Reciprocal Admission Program) logo and is also accepted at a variety of other member Gardens. Reciprocal admission to over 300 other gardens and aboreta is free with San Antonio Botanical Garden Membership. For a list of reciprocal gardens, you can visit our page on your eMembership app and access this list anywhere, anytime.

Yes, membership benefits are non-transferrable. Verification of a member’s identity also helps the Guest Experience team from accepting lost or stolen cards and prevents fraud and loss of revenue that accompanies misuse. This process protects the viability of the Botanical Garden’s educational programming and helps keep the cost of membership affordable.

Our Dual level membership has the flexibility to either name two specified adults or name one specified adult with the ability to bring an unnamed guest. If you purchase a Dual membership online with only one named adult, you will automatically be given the ability to bring one unnamed guest.

For our Family Plus membership, all three adult names must be specified to grant admission for three adults. This membership level is meant for extended families and relationships who would like to have three named adults on the same membership.

All other level above Family Plus have the option to name up to three guests. The number of specified (named) adults on the membership equal the number of adults who can utilize member benefits.

For a membership naming two or three adult members, one name change per membership year is allowed. This change may be requested of the Guest Experience team or by calling the membership office at 210.536.1407. One new, hard copy membership card per will be issued to reflect the name change.

For our Family Plus membership, all three adult names must be specified to grant admission for three adults. This membership level is meant for extended families and relationships who would like to have three named adults on the same membership.

A valid photo ID is required for the Guest Experience team to verify membership. Up to one replacement hard copy membership card are available upon request at the admission kiosk, by calling the membership office at 210.536.1407, or emailing [email protected] . Replacement cards will be mailed to the primary member.

Our digital card option is available to all members. To help conserve paper waste, please consider using your digital card as a replacement card option if lost.

No. Membership cards are non-transferrable, so the non-member adult must pay admission. If your child(ren) will visit the Botanical Garden with a non-member adult, please call Guest Experience in advance (210.536.1400) to inform them and send your membership card with the adult bringing your child(ren) to the Botanical Garden so your child(ren) is not charged admission. Our Family Plus, Friend, Contributor, Patron, and Director’s Circle levels now include the ability to add a 3rd named adult or named caregiver to your membership. To upgrade your membership to include a third adult or caregiver, please visit the kiosk or contact the membership office at 210.536.1407.

Memberships to the Botanical Garden are considered 501(c)3 tax-deductible donations and are non-refundable. We thank you for your support of the Garden.

Upgrades to membership may be made by a named adult member at the admission kiosk, or by calling the membership office at 210.536.1407. The member may choose to:

Upgrade a membership to a higher level by paying the cost difference between the two membership values (expiration date remains the same) OR

Upgrade the membership to a higher level for a full year by paying full annual dues for the higher level (new expiration date will be one year after purchase).

Military discounts apply to memberships purchased by and for the eligible military personnel. Active, retired and reserve personnel wishing to receive the 10% military discount must present a valid military ID at the time of purchase. These discounts apply only to memberships purchased for the military personnel member.
