Admission to the Garden During COVID-19

To minimize physical contact and practice social distancing, the San Antonio Botanical Garden is highly encouraging guests to purchase tickets in advance. Garden members are no longer required to make online reservations at this time. Members please present membership card and valid ID at the admissions kiosk for garden entry.

Temporary Visitor Guidelines

The health and safety of our guests, staff and the collection of plants remain a top priority at the San Antonio Botanical Garden. In line with the latest guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Texas Department of State Health Services, and the City of San Antonio related to COVID-19, the Botanical Garden kindly requests your support by adhering to the following protocols to protect your health and safety.

Consider visiting another day should you not feel well or have symptoms of COVID-19.

Practice social distancing by staying six feet apart from others.

Use every day preventive measures (e.g. wash hands, cover coughs, etc.).

Cloth face coverings are strongly encouraged in outdoor areas. All visitors are required to wear cloth face coverings when entering restrooms or the Garden Gift Shop.

Special occasion photography is welcome with limited restrictions. Please read guidelines

Attention Members

  • Members Walking Hour: 8 – 9 a.m., Monday – Sunday. No additional reservation required for Members Walking Hour. Please present your membership card and valid ID at the admissions kiosk.
  • Memberships: If you purchase or renew a membership online, simply bring your purchase confirmation email as your ticket for your first visit (no additional online reservation required).


  • The Greehey Family No Name Creek will be closed for maintenance on Sunday, July 26.
  • Operational changes still in effect include the limiting of in-person tours, programs, classes, events and private rental use of facilities.
  • Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

The Greehey Family Foundation No Name Creek
The splash pad in the Family Adventure Garden opens daily from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Monday – Sunday (8 – 9 a.m. Members only hour). Please note capacity is limited to 20 guests at a time.

Lucile Halsell Conservatory Exhibit Room
Open at a limited capacity of 10 guests at a time.

General admission tickets are non-refundable and valid only for the date and time listed on the ticket. Unredeemed tickets are considered a donation to the San Antonio Botanical Garden.

To fully ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all, the Botanical Garden asks for your help by adhering to the visitor guidelines listed below. Those who do not comply may regretfully have their visit ended early.

Garden Etiquette

  • Outside food and drinks are not permitted. Refillable water bottles are welcome.
  • Leave plants for everyone to enjoy.
  • Stay on designated garden pathways.
  • Supervise any young visitors with you.
  • Recycle! Receptacles for waste and recyclables are available throughout the Botanical Garden.
  • Blankets, lawn chairs, hats, sunscreens, and refillable water bottles are welcomed.
  • Visitors are welcome to take photos and videos for personal use. Drone use is prohibited.
  • To ensure a safe and enjoyable visit for guests and to protect valuable plant collections, San Antonio Botanical Garden does not permit pets. The Botanical Garden does allow service animals onto the premises, consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and TX Law. Service animals are defined by the ADA as “dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities.”

Please refrain from:

  • Smoking or using tobacco (including vaping and e-cigarettes) indoors or outdoors within the Botanical Garden.
  • Collecting seeds, picking flowers and leaves or harvesting fruit or produce from the gardens.
  • Bringing firearms, weapons or portable players.
  • Riding bikes, scooters and skateboards.
  • Climbing or engaging in activities such as frisbee, football, baseball and kite-flying that could result in plants or other visitors being accidentally trampled.
  • Photographing subjects in trees, on rocks, or on other structures.
  • Wading or swimming in fountains or ponds (but do visit the Botanical Garden's designated splash area located in the Family Adventure Garden).

Dress Code

Shirts and shoes must always be worn. Young children only must wear swim suits, swim-diapers, or swim trunks in the Family Adventure Garden’s designated splash area. The Botanical Garden reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone who refuses to comply with this policy.

Guests with Disabilities

The Botanical Garden is readily accessible to visitors of varying mobility. The easiest access is on paved walkways, and wheelchairs may be checked out on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Botanical Garden is located at 555 Funston Place, on the northeast corner of Funston Place and North New Braunfels Avenue.

The Botanical Garden has limited free parking. Lot A offers the closest parking to the admissions kiosk, entry area and the Garden Gift Shop.

Via Bus Route 11

VIVA, San Antonio’s VIA culture bus route, connects riders with museums, parks, theaters, art galleries, and the zoo. Fares are $2.75 for an unlimited day pass or $2.30 for a single fare, and the bus offers convenient service to the Botanical Garden every 30 minutes. For more information, click here.


Visitors are welcome to take informal photographs and videos at the Botanical Garden as long as they stay on the paths and do not disturb the plants and collections. Drones are not allowed.

Special Occasion Photography

Special Occasion Photography is categorized as any wedding, engagement, anniversary, quinceañera, maternity, birthday, graduation, or any staged/group photoshoots. This type of photography is for personal use only.

Special Occasion Photography is allowed during the Botanical Garden’s regular business hours (Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Saturday – Sunday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.). Regular admission rates apply. Please read photography guidelines.

Commercial On-location Filming and Photography

Visitor Photography and Video Permission

Visitors may be photographed, or video recorded during their visit by the Botanical Garden or its agents. Paid admission grants permission to the Botanical Garden to utilize the visitor’s image, likeness and/or sound recordings for the purpose whatsoever in perpetuity.
