Join us for a creative evening with an artist-led exploration of a contemporary mural in the Reflections of Nature exhibition! During this outdoor talk, guests will learn about the artist’s creative approach, installation process, and other works they have created. After the talk, participants will enjoy a hands-on art activity inspired by the artist’s piece. The evening begins with a beverage from the Garden Gift Shop before setting off on this immersive, art-meets-nature experience. Before the talk, feel free to enjoy the Garden for a fun, self-guided journey!

Art Making: Network-inspired Cut Collage | 7:30 – 8 p.m.

This session features Chris Sauter. Chris works across media, exploring the interplay of history, biology, scientific discovery, and material culture. Based in San Antonio, Texas, Sauter has been an artist in residence and exhibited internationally. Over the past 30 years, he has created work that studies agriculture, history, science, and religion to draw connections between material, understanding, and the conclusions we make about these processes. Sauter’s art challenges what we know and take for granted about the worlds and environments that we exist within. Sauter is a professor at the University of Texas in San Antonio and a member of M12, a collective of practitioners focused on rural issues.
