About the Kahlo Family:
Guillermo Kahlo fled Baden-Baden, Germany and reached Mexico in 1890, where he met Matilde Calderón. Matilde came from a big and very close Mexican family, who welcomed Guillermo with open arms. They had four daughters: Matilde, Adriana, Frida, and Cristina. They were all unique and different but shared one value that has survived throughout generations: family. Although only Cristina had children, they all welcomed people to their homes and hearts as family.
In the Kahlo family, kitchens became the heart of the homes, filled with tradition and joy. Little by little, the family recipes became the protagonists in every reunion, tailored to every occasion with available ingredients, spices, and intention.
During this event Mara Romeo Kahlo, Cristina’s granddaughter – and Frida’s grandniece – along with her two daughters, Mara de Anda and Frida, join us with special family recipes, reinterpreted and cooked with fresh ingredients and infused with stories from her family.
These recipes have lived throughout generations and tonight they would like to share them with you as the Kahlo’s would: as family. These dishes are all intended to bring you a sense of home, family, and tradition… ¡Buen provecho!
