Hunt, snap, sip! Challenge yourself and your companions to a Cocktail Scavenger Hunt. Find and photograph ingredients growing in the Garden and then then present them to a bartender in exchange for a refreshing cocktail (Ages 21+). #Cheers!

Spring Jelly Making with Texas Natives

Springtime produces some distinctive native Texas fruits and berries. Join Paul Gates in this delicious workshop and learn which Texas natives produce spring fruit, when it can be harvested, and how to turn that fruit into unique jellies. Paul will demonstrate his jelly making technique and each participant will take home a jar of jelly and a booklet of recipes.

Cinco de Mayo Celebration – The Flags of Texas (adding indigenous, Italian, and Chinese to the “six flags”). Advancing San Antonio’s designation as ‘Creative City of Gastronomy’ by UNESCO (only the second city in the U.S. to earn this distinction and first in Texas), the Garden’s culinary programming encourages guests to discover delicious fruits, fresh garden vegetables, and savory herbs that thrive in South Texas. Join us for seasonal classes that showcase San Antonio’s thriving culinary scene and local talent.

The Blue Zone: Long Life Cuisine (Nicoya, Costa Rica) 

Nicoya, Costa Rica: savor the heart healthy vibrant, complex tropical flavors and seafood of the Nicoyan Peninsula. People in some areas of the world are known for living a long and healthy life, to a large degree from their local diets. We explore these places’ cuisines, and celebrate delicious, healthy recipes through multi-course demonstration and tasting. And we’ll harvest from our own garden, as well!

CHEF: Kids & Family Cooking Class (Baking with Whole Grains) 

Bring the whole family to the Garden and learn how to cook! Join Chef Dave for a family-friendly culinary class that combines nutrition and cooking basics. Enjoy a savory appetizer when you arrive, then roll up your sleeves to prepare (and taste!) several delicious and healthy recipes. This class is recommended for families with children ages 5 and up. Families will leave with recipes developed by the Culinary Health Education for Families (CHEF) program. Sign up for all five classes!
Fee: $25.00 per adult ($23.50 member), $5.00 per child ($4.50 member)
