Public Guided Tours
Preregistered Public Guided and Drop-In Tours are offered regularly throughout the year. Topics range from native plants to ethnobotany to sustainable gardening! Scroll below to view available dates and times.
Private Guided Tours
Private Guided Tours are designed for groups looking to explore with a guide. Learn about plant collections and exhibitions across the 38-acre Garden with trained docents. Tours last about one hour and are designed for groups with at least 8 people. Groups over 15 will be split into separate groups, touring at the same time or consecutively.
Private Tours options: General Garden Tour, Texas Native Trail Tour, WaterSaver Gardening, Reflections of Nature Guided Tour (March 2025 – October 2025)
Private Guided Tours may be scheduled: Wednesdays and Fridays, 10 am, 11 am, and 1 pm. Reservations must be made at least 4 weeks in advance.
Fee: $27 per adult, $11 per child (aged 3-13), $12 per university/college participant with valid ID
Guided tour fees include general admission to the Garden.
Group Rate
Plan your group visit to the Garden hassle-free by purchasing your tickets in advance. Designed for groups of 15 or more looking to explore at their own pace. These tickets provide entry without the need for a guide and are not intended for school groups.
University & College Group Rate
Explore the Garden’s 39 acres at your own pace. This discounted group rate is available to universities, colleges, and trade schools and is designed for groups without the need for a guide. Groups must have 10 or more participants to receive the discounted group rate.
Pre-K through 12th Grade Programs
The Garden offers a variety of exciting learning adventures for students of all ages. All programs are TEKS-based, active, and age-appropriate, so you can feel confident as an educator in choosing a Garden experience to enrich your class curriculum.
Let Us Guide You
Enjoy guided tours of the San Antonio Botanical Garden (based on guide availability). One docent will accompany every 15 people. Guided tours must be requested at least 2 weeks in advance.
- Tours last 60 – 90 minutes.
- Tours meet behind the admissions kiosk.
- Tours are all outdoors.
- Please wear appropriate clothing. It’s highly recommended you bring a hat, sunscreen, and water bottle.
Unless otherwise requested, tours will be a general overview of the Garden.
Based on guide availability, tours may be themed. Common themes include: Exhibition, Native Plants, Sustainability of the Garden, or Conservatory. Additional themes may be available. If a docent is not available, you will be notified at least 96 hours prior to your visit. At that time you may choose a self-guided tour or cancel your reservation.

Self-Guided Visit
If a guide is not available, you are still encouraged to visit and explore the Botanical Garden at your own pace. Groups should schedule self-guided visits so that staff know when to expect your group and can communicate any changes which might affect your visit (parking, construction, etc.).
