Native Orchids of Texas by Michael Eason and Adam Black | 9:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.
With over 28,000 global species, the Orchid family is one of the largest and most diverse plant families in the world. Few realize over fifty species of orchids can be found in Texas – from the bogs of the Pineywoods, to the mountains of the Trans-Pecos, and all points in-between, orchids occur. Join Michael Eason and Adam Black as they discuss this intriguing group of plants, they will give a global overview of this family as well as cover the various genera found in Texas, their habitat and ecology, pollination biology, seed dispersal, and the current conservation efforts to save the species most at risk in our state. Sponsored by the San Antonio Water System. Keynote Lecture will take place in the Betty Kelso Center.
