With over 20 years of experience, Michael has been instrumental in guiding the Garden’s efforts to preserve rare plant species in South Texas. His profound knowledge of the region’s flora and ecology makes him an exceptional guide as you explore the native plants of Texas and northern Mexico. Prior to his role at the Garden, Michael managed conservation and field survey programs at the esteemed Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and continues to contribute through his consulting business, Texas Flora. A published author and advocate for native flora, Michael’s passion extends to his involvement as the State Botanist for the Native Plant Society of Texas.
