Fourth of July Fireworks

Public and Member Tickets are now sold out. Tickets will NOT be sold at the gate.

Gates open at 5:30pm. Fireworks at dusk, typically around 9pm.

*Update: Hello! The Country Club who hosts the fireworks says that the fireworks will go on tonight at 9pm. For those who decide not to visit the Garden tonight, please note that your tickets are good for General Admission to visit the Garden (good for up to one year).

Thanks to our neighbors at the San Antonio Country Club, the Garden is a perfect spot to celebrate Independence Day with friends and family. Picnics, blankets, and lawn chairs welcome! Rosella at the Garden will be selling hot dogs and drinks until 7pm. Thank you for not bringing fireworks or sparkler on Garden ground.

The Family Adventure Garden will be closed during this event.

Onsite parking is free, but limited. We encourage guests to rideshare to and from the event. First time riders can sign up for Uber and use the promo code SABOT to receive a free ride on us, up to $20 off.

Tips for making your visit to the Garden spectacular:

  1. Bring a refillable water bottle. The Garden has several water refill stations to help keep guests hydrated.
  2. Stay covered. Bring a hat or umbrella, and sunscreen to protect yourself from the afternoon sun.
  3. Parking is limited. We encourage guests to rideshare or carpool to and from the event.
  4. Please leave personal fireworks and sparklers at home. Fireworks are not allowed at the Garden.

Dog Days – Happy HOWLidays

Happy HOWLidays – Dog Days at the Garden! December 2-3, 2017

It’s a dog-friendly weekend at the beautiful Botanical Garden. Four legged friends can enjoy doggy swimming pools and bowls of water throughout the Garden.

Saturday from 10AM-2PM
· San Antonio Humane Society: Trainers will be demonstrating basic obedience with a few adoptable  dogs
· Animal Care Services
· Hands-on activities about dogs and plants
Sunday from 10AM-2PM
· San Antonio Humane Society trainers will be demonstrating basic obedience with a few adoptable dogs
· Hands-on activities about dogs and plants

 

Cost: General admission + $5 donation per dog (on a leash, please) will go toward local animal friendly charities.

Members enjoy free admission + $5 donation per leashed dog.

BOOtanica

Included with general admission. Members enjoy this event for free. BOOtanica Days, sponsored by H-E-B, celebrates the fall season at the Garden with a variety of hands-on activities for the whole family. On October 28, dress up in your favorite costume and join a parade along the new Garden promenade at 10am and 2pm. Fun activities provided by Texas A&M Agrilife Extension and other nature partners. Thanks to H-E-B, all guests enjoy $2 off admission to BOOtanica.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 21 at 9:30 a.m. in front of the Halsell Welcome Building with gates opening to the public immediately thereafter.

Tiny Dragons in Your Own Backyard: Anoles and Other Texas Lizards

Know a budding scientist?  Learn from Trinity Biology students about the anoles and other reptiles in your Texas Backyard.  Start the class indoors with some fun, hands-on activities, then venture outdoors with the researchers to learn about their work at The Garden.

Age Range: 8-12 years; Adult must accompany a child

Fee: $25 per adult/child pair

Dog Days of Summer

It’s a dog friendly weekend!

Dog Days of Summer kicks off Saturday, August 5 through Sunday, August 6. The Garden welcomes leashed dogs and their companions from 9am – 5pm throughout the summer weekend. Joining the Garden for Dog Days on Saturday are Animal Care Services (City of San Antonio) and SNIPSA. Proceeds from the weekend benefit local animal charities.

Admission ($12-$9) per person + $5 per leashed dog. Members enjoy free admission + $5 per leashed dog.

Wild With Worms Workshop

Wild with Worms Workshop – Starting a Vermiculture System at Home 

Instructor: Emma Trester-Wilson, San Antonio Botanical Garden Staff

Feel guilty when you throw away food scraps?  Worry no longer!  In this fun, hands-on workshop families can create a starter worm bin to take home. Fee: $45 includes all materials per family unit (one adult and up to three children, $10 per additional person)
