Ways to Get Involved
Are you an environmental enthusiast?
Help the WaterSaver Outreach Team spread the word about water conservation while gardening to residents of San Antonio. This is a great opportunity to outreach and make long-lasting changes that will impact your community.
Be a Garden Guide!
Garden guides are interpreters of the Botanical Garden and act as “Garden Ambassadors” to the public. Guides lead pre-scheduled, educational walking tours through the gardens. The learning process involves mentoring, attending tours and training.
Are you great with kids?
Volunteer to assist the Education Staff teach children about ecosystems. Help children build terrariums and lead them through a tour in the conservatory. There are also many other opportunities to help with children’s programs. Training provided.
Are you an early bird?
You may enjoy being part of one of our Garden Teams. Team WaterSaver assists the garden staff by watering the garden and keeping it green (an early morning spring/ summer volunteer opportunity). Garden Teams throughout the rest of the year assist with a variety of garden duties.
Are you a social butterfly?
You would be great assisting with Volunteer Visitor Services. Visitor services volunteers welcome visitors, direct them to areas of interest and provide general garden information.
Gift Shop Volunteers Needed
Do you like to work with the public? Do you want to help display interesting and unique merchandise? Are you someone who can help a visitor find that perfect gift for someone special? Volunteering at the Garden Gate is a fun way to help the Botanical Society support the Garden and make Garden visitors feel welcome. Call 210.536.1417 for details.
For more information on current volunteer opportunities join us at a general volunteer orientation. Held the third Saturday of each month at 9:00 am (unless a holiday) in the Administration Building, please RSVP to confirm your space.
