2020 Summer Camps

Kids Summer Camps

Explore the San Antonio Botanical Garden this summer with camps focused on hands-on exploration, nature-inspired art, ecology and botany. From Eco-Explorers to Little Gardeners and CHEF Cooking Camp, the Botanical Garden inspires budding naturalists, scientists, botanists, artists and chefs to dig deeper into the world of plants and fun.

  • All campers are provided a daily snack and a refillable water bottle.
  • There is the possibility of daily water play in the Family Adventure Garden, therefore campers are encouraged to bring swimwear and towel.
  • Dress for outdoor play! Sunscreen, insect repellant and sturdy shoes are recommended.

Registration Opening Dates

  • Member pre-sale registration will be open from Feb. 15 – March 1, 2020. If you are a Botanical Garden member, you must register as such to receive your member discounts.
  • General public registration begins March 1, 2020.

About the Camps

Little Naturalist, Little Gardener, Little Artist or Little Scientist Camps (ages 3-5)

Little ones will have fun experiencing the Botanical Garden with nature walks, crafts, stories, songs and games. Pick from any of the Little Camp themes including Naturalist, Gardener, Artist and Scientist. Campers must be accompanied by an adult.

CHEF Cooking Camp I (ages 6 - 8), Camp II (ages 9 - 12) or Camp III (ages 12 - 14)

Discover interesting varieties of fruits and vegetables during CHEF (Culinary Health Education for Families) camp. Develop cooking skills and learn nutrition basics while creating fun new recipes with produce you pick fresh from The Zachry Culinary Garden.

Eco-Explorers I (ages 6 - 8) or Explorers II (ages 9 - 12)

Explore nature as you learn about the great outdoors! Campers will learn about bats, mammals, plants and more from experts. Nature based crafts and the fun outdoors await.

Junior Gardener Camp I (ages 6 - 8) or Camp II (ages 9 - 12)

Building planter boxes, growing herbs, experiencing Japanese floral design and learning about garden insects are just some of the activities in the Junior Gardener Camp.

Urban Jungle Eco-Art Camp I (ages 6 - 8) or Camp II (ages 9 - 12)

Get creative in the Botanical Garden! Children will work with paint, clay, natural materials and more to create and learn about many forms of art.

Science Camp I (ages 6 - 8) or Camp II (ages 9 - 12)

Science rules! Campers will conduct experiments, use lab equipment and learn to follow the scientific method while exploring the Botanical Garden. Pond dipping, solar ovens, photosynthesis lab and other activities await.
