Jenelle Esparza’s project Through the Threshold is focused on pieces of plant matter that are cast in bronze to act as a threshold into a collective memory of star-like wildflowers on one grandmother’s property and an interconnected history of a South Texas cotton field. The installation of glistening bronze cotton spurs will be on view at the San Antonio Botanical Garden’s Auld House. Jenelle Esparza is the grant recipient of the 2020 Luminaria Artist Foundation Open Category.
