In the 1800s, orchids symbolized status among royalty. Orchids were exclusive to the wealthy, who sponsored botanists and orchid hunters on expeditions to obtain them from the wild. Today, advancements in technology and extensive research have democratized access to orchids. This has made them affordable for the general public, enthusiasts, and researchers alike. Botanical gardens play a pivotal role in enhancing accessibility to these exquisite plants. This discussion aims to explore the significance of botanical gardens collecting orchids. Explore how the evolving needs of our audience, and the current events and issues will shape the strategies for orchid collection in today’s world.
