Author Ehizogie Mary Ero-Brown will be joining us for Storytime as a guest reader! Families are welcome to bring a blanket to sit on during story time. Using different types of trees Ekpen and Papa encounter as a metaphor, this story explores diverse textures, colors, and styles of human hair, celebrating the rich mix of diversity.
“Ehizogie Mary Ero-Brown, born and raised in Nigeria, embarked on her teaching journey in the United Kingdom and has since taught in Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, accumulating 15 years of experience. With a degree in physics education and a master’s in IT in education, she is also a certified project manager and a passionate advocate for family, education, and children. Currently residing in Texas with her husband and children, she finds inspiration for her adventures in the everyday moments of family life.
Ehizogie’s dedication to education extends beyond the classroom, as she actively collaborates with various organizations and schools to foster a love of learning. Her work has been featured on local TV stations, and she continues to inspire and educate communities wherever she goes.”
The Singing Zoologist
Come to the Garden for a wild-good time with YouTube’s Singing Zoologist, Lucas Miller! This fun-filled, family-friendly show blends music, science, and laughter as we sing, dance, and learn about and all things wonderfully wild.
Lucas Miller, better known as the “singing zoologist,” has been literally singing the praises of wildlife since graduating with a degree in zoology. His zany humor, smart songwriting and unbridled passion for science inspire his fans, young and old, to respect and protect the natural world. Lucas has reached millions through his legendary school programs and many more through his YouTube channel, “Science Up with the Singing Zoologist.” His recordings have won awards galore and he was named an “American Masterpiece” artist by the National Endowment for the Arts, but it’s really the notes from generations of fans that are his highest honor.
Some of the educator and volunteer-led activities will include:
-Racing boats in No Name Creek
-Beginner Birding
-Loose Parts Play All Day
*Please note that the Greehey Family Foundation No Name Creek will follow normal operating hours on this day, (9 a.m. –1 p.m.).
