The Biology and Ecology of Native Texas Bees

Texas has over 700 species of native bee, representing almost one-fifth of all the species found in the United States! Join entomologist Jessica Beckham and learn about the biology and ecology of these native bees. She will discuss the role they play in maintaining healthy ecosystems, their importance as pollinators and what we can plant and do in our landscapes to promote healthy populations. Following the classroom activities Jessica will lead a tour of the garden looking for bees and the plants they require. Participants receive a free plant.
Fee: $15 ($13.50 member)

Instructor: Dr. Jessica Beckham, PhD in Entomology, entomologist and lecturer in the UTSA Environmental Science and Ecology department
