Terrarium Program

Instructor: Emma Trester-Wilson, San Antonio Botanical Garden Staff

Families have fun while reviewing plant needs, the structure and functions of plants, and explore seeds. At the end of the class you will take small plastic terrarium home with you. Fee: $25 per family unit (one adult and up to three children, $10 per additional person)

Father’s Day Bonsai Workshop

Celebrate Father’s Day with a gift of time and remembrance. This class invites adult/child couples to create a real bonsai while cultivating new skills and new memories. Each pair will work together with an expert member from the San Antonio Bosai Society. Sign up with your little potensai (bonsai in training) today!
Fee: $100 ($90 members) Fee includes bonsai plant specimen & official bonsai container
Workshop is limited to 10 adult/child pairs. Tools will be provided for use during class.

The Art of Origami and Zen Doodling

Instructor: Carol Johnson, artist

SATURDAY, JUNE 3, 1-2:30PM Join Carol Johnson, origami instructor for the Southwest School of Art summer program and Art San Antonio, for this fun family class to create a paper flower, butterfly and critter origami.   Learn some “zen doodling” techniques by decorating the origami with easy fun designs.

Fee: $30 per family unit (one adult and up to three children).  Includes $5 per person materials fee.

$10 per additional person.

Age minimum: 8 years

Please note: This is a family class, all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Little Sprouts

Seed Need

Children explore seeds as food for people and animals. Bring your little one, age 3-5 years, to the Garden for kid-friendly fun! Each Little Sprout Monday includes storytelling, kids’ crafts and hands-on explorations at your child’s pace.
Little Sprouts Mondays are the 2nd Monday of each month.

Fee: $12 per child and includes one adult. A parent or guardian must stay with the child.

Viva Botanica & Plant Sale

It’s time for our Fiesta event Viva Botanica!  Get your Fiesta week kicked off with some family fun that’s customized to celebrate the world of gardening!
11am – Enjoy Ballet Folklorico performances by Guadalupe Dance Company 
Followed by music from Conjunto Taller in the Fountain Plaza
Visit the plant sale from 10am – 2pm and choose from a variety of specimens, lovingly cared for by our volunteers, that are perfect for the San Antonio area. Members enjoy early entry to the sale at 9AM.
Small native trees for sale include:
Wafer ash (hop tree),
Texas ebony,
Mexican buckeye,
Red buckeye,
Mexican orchid tree (Bauhinia).

Viva Fiesta!  Buy the Garden’s Fiesta medal in our gift shop or at the Fiesta Store on Broadway!  Viva!
