Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to make advance reservations?
Yes. Please visit the Group Visits and Teacher Training page of this website to make a visit reservation. For group visits of 15 people or more, you must make reservations at least two weeks in advance of your visit.

How long will it take to see the Garden?
Most groups spend 1-2 hours exploring the Garden’s 38-acres. You are welcome to spend as much time in the Garden as you like. The Garden is open every day from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

What kinds of programs do you offer for groups?
Curriculum units are available for self-guided tours. In addition to our free curriculum units, school groups with a minimum of 15 students in grades 1-5 can participate in the Terrarium Ecosystem Program for a fee of $9.00 per student (includes admission and the program). Self-guided group visits of 15 or more people are $5 per child (3-17 years old) / $11 adults. Docent-led guided tours are available for adult groups. We require one guide per twenty guests. $50/guide in addition to admission fees.

What kind of financial assistance do you offer schools?
The San Antonio Botanical Garden is proud to offer bus reimbursement assistance for public schools of up to $150. The application will be emailed with your visit confirmation. Applications without a confirmed visit date cannot be processed.  There are no discounts on the group admission rates.
Bus reimbursement assistance has been generously funded by H-E-B.

What are the rules for visiting the Botanical Garden?
We ask that you help us keep your students safe and our Garden beautiful. Please download our Group Guidelines and share them with your staff and chaperones.
