Survivor Saturdays 5 Week Series

Saturdays, 9AM to 12 PM

What would you do in a post-apocalyptic or zombie filled world? Could you survive off the land? This program is the first of a 5 series program that will allow you to join herbalist and former Green Beret Sam Coffman as he demonstrates how to prepare, grow, harvest, and use medicinal herbs in your own garden for better health.
Topics in this session include: planning a central TX herbal garden using 10 amazing medicinal herbs for the area, water conservation, introduction to forest gardening, a plant walk, and hands-on activities like worm tower, keyhole garden, no-till gardening, and mulch kill garden preparation.
Program for ages 18 and above unless accompanied by an adult.
Program fee: $30 per person (members $27)

This class invites all levels, ages and sizes to enjoy a meditation in motion in the beauty of the Botanical Garden. Please join the AC Power Yoga team for a fun, active but relaxing yoga practice. Everyone is welcome.

Ayurveda at the Garden

Six EVENING sessions 6:00PM-8:30PM

A six-session exploration of mind-body medicine & Ayurveda. Learn how to bring mind-body balance, health and nourishment into your life! Featuring Ayurvedic teachings by Andrea Meyer, a Chopra Center certified Ayurvedic lifestyle educator, with culinary demonstration in sessions 2 and 6 by Chef Dave Terrazas.

Urban Movement and Parkour

12 Sessions over 6 weeks- Tuesdays and Thursdays 9am -10AM April 11 through May 18

Ever wonder how Jason Bourne or James Bond are always able to use structures and obstacles around them to eloquently move on the run? You too can learn to maneuver over, through, and across obstacles in an urban environment. Through specialized and choreographed training in a garden environment, this introductory program will teach you the basics of core strength conditioning for coordination and agility as well as the basic techniques in urban movement, freerunning, and parkour. Led by local MBS Fitness Trainer Cameron Croley, the class is designed to be individually challenging and fun as well as instructional on basic anatomy and function of the body.

Tai Chi Level 1

12 week series -Tuesdays 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Feb 7- Apr. 25 OR Saturdays 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Feb 11 thru Apr 29

Tai chi uses gentle flowing movements to reduce the stress of today's busy lifestyles and improve health. Anyone, regardless of age or physical ability, can do it. Practice "meditation in motion" with Ming Xie, who has taught tai chi for over 25 years.

Tai Chi Sword 32 Form

12 week series - TUESDAYS FEBRUARY 7 thru APRIL 25 10:30 am to 11:30 am

This class will teach the form which combines bare hand movements with the artistic and martial functions of the sword. Will help develop strength, flexibility, strength and health.

Chen Style Tai Chi is the oldest among the 5 major styles. Students will experience Chen style's unique alternated speed and silk reeling technique to quickly enhance their balance, strength, and power.

Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa style yoga class, a dynamic flowing yoga form, in which the transitions between poses (asanas), particularly breath (pranayama), are as important as the asanas themselves. All sessions are followed by a corresponding culinary demonstration with sampling afterward.
