Registering for Classes

We are pleased to be adding online registration for some of our classes. To register online you must complete two steps:

1. Click on the link below the class to reserve a spot and pay online with a credit card.

2. Download the Participant Registration Form, fill it out and send it in to programregistrar@sabot.org to complete your registration.

 

Texas Tough Landscapes: Before it Gets Really Hot
Friday, May 3 or Saturday, May 18 from 10 am - 12 pm
What do you really need to do now to be ready for your landscape to survive the long, hot summer? Having a checklist of things to do to make sure your landscape is ready for a South Texas summer is important to save you time, money and water later. Volunteers with the San Antonio Botanical Garden will share information to assist you. Sponsored by SAWS. Class Fee: $10 (free for active volunteers).

Rain Barrel Workshop
Saturday, May 11 from 9 am – noon
Rainwater harvesting is an innovative approach to capturing free water. You can save money by collecting and storing rainwater and using it to irrigate your trees, shrubs and flower beds, or to provide water to pets, birds, or other wildlife. Join County Extension Agent Bryan Davis, and Master Gardeners Lou Kellogg and Mary Fernandez to learn about rainwater collection for the home and landscape and make your own rain barrel to take home. Limit 30. Please RSVP by Wednesday, May 8, 2013. Fee: $55.  - Registration closed.

Care of Agaves, Yuccas & Succulents
Saturday, May 18 from 10 am - 12 pm
Are you considering adding the drama of agaves, yuccas, or other succulents to your garden, but feel lost about their care? Use this workshop to find the best choices for our area. Learn how to care for these plants, and find out how many outstanding choices there are for San Antonio gardens. Instructor: Mary Irish. Sponsored by SAWS. Class Fee: $10.

Adult Group Tours:

Groups of 15 adults or more qualify for a group admission rate of $7.00 per person. Garden Guides are available to lead tours by request for a fee of $40 per guide. One guide is required for every 20 adults. Available Monday - Friday.  Please contact volunteer@sabot.org to request a guided tour.

Garden Walks for 2013

Botanical Garden Bird Walks: 
Enjoy birds in native habitats, and bask in the relaxing atmosphere found in the Garden during a morning bird walk led by an experienced guide every third Saturday of the month.  Featured birds include hummingbirds, Long-billed Thrashers, Black-bellied Whistling Ducks, Green Heron, and the Common Moorhen. For a list of other birds spotted in the garden visit our "birding list". Please bring binoculars if you have them. Ages 10+. Third Saturday of each month. 9am - meet at Carriage House. Free for Botanical Society members. 
 No registration required.

Native Plant Walks at 10:00 am
Explore our 11-acre Texas Native Trail with a Master Naturalist! Stroll along the Hill Country Trail in search of Texas snowbells, mountain laurel, and other plants adapted to the rocky, alkaline soils. On the shaded walk around the lake in our East Texas Pineywoods, you'll observe acid-loving woodland species such as magnolia, sweetgum, and sassafras. The South Texas Trail showcases dryland trees and shrubs such as mesquite, huisache, cenizo, ebony, and sotol. Come take a "walk across Texas!" No registration required.
